ribbons and zippers

I'm sure you will remember the lovely Green Tara ribbons I got late last year and I pinned them together to create a log cabin patch...well today I stitched around the square to secure it and then decided to turn it in to a flat bag to store my ribbon scraps, and while I had my mini sewing machine out I began work on a zipper bag...at the moment it looks more like a funky pillow case but tomorrow I will finish it.

I love creating things I can wear, things that encourage people to ask lots of questions and to possibly get to creating interesting things of their own. I created this piece as wearable mojo for myself...the pages inside the mini book are decorated in a fun way to inspire...fun colours and patterns and images...things that make me smile.

the missing link

actually there are no missing links but I couldn't think of a quirky title...

I have been playing with chain and links for years (believe it or not), and I even went and did a two day workshop...and I have been surfing the net looking for inspiration for different link styles...and I came across some brilliant online stores that sell jump rings to use in CHAINMAILLE!!!! sorry, I got excited!

The pink bracelet is my first attempt at the Helm style and of course my man just had to have something for himself, so his is made from steel jump rings that I made by hand.

Blooming Grungey

I love flowers, they remind me of my Mum and the gardens she has always had...she is a green thumb...whereas I just have to look at a plant and it curls up and dies...must be my black thumb! Anyhoo I decided I wanted some flowers on my table and so I created these and a flower pot fit for every grungey bloom.

Dawning Flutter and a four hour drive

On April 16th and 17th I'll be in Wingham, New South Wales to teach this flooded canvas for the lovely ladies from Scrapsidaisy

I have to admit that I am always really excited when I get to teach scrapbookers because I love how amazed they are with themselves when they get their hands really dirty by experimenting with mixed media.

Yes it's a four hour drive for me but I truly love the travel and the thought of meeting new friends and sharing my art...plus I was promised chocolate! 

It's a two day retreat and I'll be teaching on the Saturday (16th) 9:30am-12:30

I'm sure you have seen the news about the devastating floods that have caused so much heartache here in Australia...lives are ruined. There are a lot of charities collecting donations and with that there are some terrible people taking advantage of the misfortune of others and pocketing gifts meant for those who should be receiving.
Imagine that just a few weeks ago it was Christmas...imagine the families...the children more so. It's a new year...and so far it has been destroyed for so many.

Jar jar bling

I picked up a couple of glass jars to decorate to keep my Green Tara ribbons in. I used Words or Whatever chipboard frame and one of their lovely flourishes to compliment the Green Tara fiber paper, die  cut butterflies and Batik flowers...maybe I'll fill the jar with chocolate.

I used Lindy Stamp Gang stains and mists to glam the colour.

QKD flooded canvas

it's no secret that I love Queen Kat Designs masculine and grungey stamps and today I want to share a flooded canvas I created using the Border Wars set pressed into polymer clay to create some tiles...the beautiful colour is Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Micas, and the Skull Royalty stamp is the center piece as a chemically etched brass plate. The deep cracked frame is Golden's Crackle Paste painted with Kaisercraft acrylics. I used 200mls of casting resin
