Inspiration and a give away

I am inspired by every person I know, in one way or another and sometimes I get in to the groove of creating something to express my appreciation for the great, talented people in my circle of friends...this weekend I was inspired by two of my fave artists who always leave me wanting to learn more.

Jen Crossley and Sarah Fawcett. It is because of the adaptable style of Jen that I continue to experiment and she is the lady who inspired me to try my hand at chemical etching a good while back. Sarah is an amazing talent too and shows that there really are no rules when it comes to creation. They both follow their heart and do what they love.

...and now for the give away...I created an extra plate and have all the lovely bits and pieces to go in to making a second cuff...including a divine scrap of Jennifer Paganelli fabric. The plate is flat but is easy to bend and curve, it is unpunched but goes through the Crop-o-dile nicely...I am happy to punch and set the eyelets if you are a little concerned. You simply need to leave a comment here to lay claim to the cuff kit, one name will be drawn April 14, I am more than happy for you to repost this on your own blog or website and in doing so you will recieve a second chance to be drawn. If you do repost on your blog, don't forget to link back and to let me know you have shared.
Good luck!

Cry me a river

The last couple of days have been quite emotional for me, I had a crazy stalker, found out a couple of people I considered friends were not friends, had problems with people thinking they knew everything and decided to bash me verbally and my son lied to this is all sorted and the trouble makers are gone from my life...the son...well he's walking a thin line needless to say!...Anyhoo all this emotion led to this creation, I have called it "Cry me a river", I hope you like it as much as I do. Art is a fantastic way to express how you feel about life.

For the love of the country

I am truly loving flooded canvases...can you tell? This is number four! The size is 25x60 cm, I had a rusty old chainsaw chain in my treasure chest of rusty goodies, so I decided it would be perfect for this piece. The leaves are paper!

pretty rusty

I have decided that I need a huge drum of resin because I am going through it so quickly...but it is so much fun...I've tagged this style of my art "flooding".
The flower is created by pulling apart a little metal steamer.
The resin went a little murky because I was naughty and wouldn't wait for each layer to dry, so the gesso underneath it all seeped up.

"Fire in the sky"

another fun canvas, this one is quite a bit larger...120x40cm, I was going to totally flood the canvas with resin but I have decided that I really love how it ran at the looks like fencing.
Any way these have been a lot of fun, I am going to do 6 more over the year...just because :)

I began this with a plain old shallow backed canvas...but my mind was on all things rusty, I really wanted to create a piece that held some of my most fav. things...impasto, PVA, gilding wax, swirls, rusty things, polymer clay, resin...all of the colour came from mica powders!, In fact I owe a huge thank you to Tracey from Lindys' Stamp Gang for sending me such lovely "Magical Micas", the colours are amazing, I thoroughly suggest you get them in to your craft stash. On this canvas I used them in the follow ways: painted on with wated, brushed on to polymer clay before baking, spritzt on with a water bottle, mixed with impasto. The colours remained true every time. The photos really don't do this piece much justice...the depth is divine, I am really pleased with how it has turned out and will be making some smaller versions to complement this. The size of this one is 12x12 inches

Prima has just released all their new goodies as CHA, amongst the lovelies is a range called "Alchemy"...not much to look at really but as they are based on my submitted designs I feel compelled to put in the good word. I recieved a small stash to play with yesterday and decided that I do really like them, they are perfect for a "Bollywood" style project or something this...enjoy and let me know what you think.

a little preview

sadly I can't show any more than this...due to the fact that it is a promotional piece I have made for something in you will just have to imagine the whole thing and the missing parts :)
