Crowns and Ned Kelly

On the weekend I went to a class...AS A STUDENT!!!...I rarely sit as a student but I went to a class on the weekend to hone in on my soldering skills...only to discover that I really need better toys...I mean tools!
Anyhoo today I created this piece...ummm which has no soldering at all but plenty of annealing, so I did use my torch still. I really love this piece...not sure if I will have it as a brooch or a pendant...and not sure if it is finished or if "Ned" (squint and use your imaginations people!) needs some limbs. The whole piece is created from brass and copper.

Now onto the subject of crowns...my friend Marlene Haverone and I have decided to have a "Crown Embellishment" swap and are inviting anybody who would like to take part in this international swap to join up...the swap is for an element that will go to decorate a crown, so if you sign up please don't think you are getting entire crowns sent to you. I have created a blog as the swap home, so go check out the details at...

Oh, my goodness! Marlene is my friend also- I just sent her a package of things to use in her art that reminded me of her. I couldn't believe it when I read her name. I'm so in.p.s. Your piece is beautiful and can we ever have enough toys?
