These shoes are made for walking

well perhaps not...I have a challenge on my yahoo group where we are altering children's shoes, here is my first effort. the original shoe is a little girl's shiny black dress shoe, I have then covered it in liquid nails for texture, before it had a chance to harden I made swirls with my palette knife. Once dry I then painted with pthalo green, did a dabbled wash over with a sea sponge and copper and gold, the next step was using my heat gun...not to dry the paint but to bubble it and make it even more textured. I smeared a little antique gold Rub 'n Buff over the raised areas and then attached adornments, etc.
See one of my previous posts to see how I altered the German Scrap pieces.

The red shoe is not finished yet but I just love the colour so far.

Oh My Gosh!!!

I cannot stop looking at this!!! It is the most beautiful work of art I've seen in a very long time! I really want to have a go at this now!!! Just two problems!....a) I don't have a small child and b) I don't know anyone else with a small child who'd be prepared to hop along so that I could 'borrow' one of their shoes in the name of art! lol Seriously though...this really is stunning work!!!

Beautiful! How do you apply the liquid nails? That's a new one to me! Do you put it on thick, spread it or what? I especially like the red shoe-the color is gorgeous! For the person who didn't know a small child to get a shoe-you can go to the Goodwill and get all you want or just do an adult shoe. In fact I've only altered adult shoes and ice skates, now I must do a child shoe! Thanks for sharing!
