The Rebel stamp was smooshed into some UTEE on a piece of cardstock and mounted with PVA before applying a little gilding wax to highlight the design.

Byzantine Chain

Freestyle

do you explore, play and experiment? I do! It makes me a better artist and better teacher. I love learning new things and if I can't figure something out then it's fine to wing it and just let my hands work and my mind follow.

Today I had a go at the beautiful Byzantine chain...I found it a challenge but with time I'll get better. I also played with freestyle and I love how that turned out...a great keychain. I might have to make more.

*note* the chains are both made from scratch...meaning that I made my own jump rings

I took a break from my paper work for next year's classes to relax and look through my stash of ribbons from Green Tara, after a little play with layering them to make a 4x4 inch log cabin patch I decided I needed a new headband to keep my hair out of my face...what better than to use funky ribbons! I also used some of the cute metal flowers as centers for the blooms...they come flat, so I used my flush cutters to cut the metal and bend them up before glueing to another flat flower. I think they look pretty cool and very funky. The patch will be a part of a wall hanging...the pins won't be staying, although they do look good

products used:

• 2cm metal flowers
• 9mm vertical stripe ribbon (used in patch)
• 22mm vertical stripe ribbon (used for flowers)

I'm not really in the spirit of Christmas but have decided to create some masculine decorations and what better to use than brass plate, Queen Kat Designs stamps, beads and some chemical etching. I'm working on a few more over the next few days so look out.

Christmas Angel

when I was last in Perth I picked up some foam dress forms...and they have sat atop my shelf since then...until I received my DT package from Green Tara.

I first coated the form with Mod Podge before wrapping it closely with a piece of vintage pattern paper. Once it was dry I coated the entire piece with Mod Podge Hard Coat to strengthen and seal.

Then it's just a matter of decorating, here are the links to the products used...please note that Green Tara is a wholesaler, so you will have to contact your local retailer to get the goodies I use...ok back to the list...

here I am again hopping along with the weekly Queen Kat Designs blog hop and sharing my creation with you. Here is an ATC I created using QKD's Rockstar Rebel rubber stamp set.

I like a versatile product and I know I have found that in using this set, I used the ATC I had made in my last blog hop post as a background and embellished it with the skull from the set to change the look of it.

The cardstock I used started as an offwhite, I used a little distress ink and spritzed with water to blend it through. I used my finger nail to rough up the edges. The guitar is stamped on to an acetate ATC and coloured with a permanent marker, the skull was stamped onto metal shim and hand tooled/embossed to give the piece dimension. I am thinking it would make a very cool brooch for my skull apron...methinks I might need to make a few.

my play as a metalsmith

On the weekend I was lucky enough to be a student in a two day workshop taught by Keith Lo Bue. He is great metalsmith and is very generous with his ideas and inspiration, I learned so many little things that have given me new ideas to use in my own creations. We also had Keith's lovely daughter Mira in class and I was the recipiant of a pair of hand made earrings by the clever girl.
